Hype Machine Rocks

Ok the Hype Machine site is pretty cool. I can't believe that I missed it when I was doing my research on the web 2.0 state of the world.

The site crawls a specific set of blogs for mp3s and then aggregates them all and creates a play list so that you can hear it. They don't link directly to the mp3s and I think that helps them stay out of trouble.

The specific problem it solves for me is that I will hear some interesting song on the radio and if it is a new artist I can't find much of their music necessarily online.

Here's the band I was listening too on Live 105 last night - Great Northern.

Open Data Conference

I'm here in NYC at the Open Data Conference that Seth Goldstein is organizing.

Some really interesting information being shared and I think a central tension between wanting to be Open and embracing of Attention Trust principles and the realities of operating commercially.

Henry Blodget is blogging about it.
