Yahoo Small Business helps New Orleans

My good friend Melissa Chaika Sobel is a New Orleans native and talks on the Yahoo blog about a terrific event that Yahoo put on to help people there. The event was focused on helping people economically by giving away Yahoo Small Business services.

Chris Wisecarver, one of the merchants said:

“I don’t think people understand that economic recovery is directly tied to the human recovery.”

A few interesting things that Melissa doesn't talk about in the blog post:

• From a PR perspective that there was hard ROI around doing this. Trust me, Melissa is a wonderful person AND she's an analytical marketer that knows her stuff.
• Melissa conceived of and ran this event. She's just too shy to take the credit in public.

Yahoo did good for New Orleans and was helped in the process. A solid win win situation.
