SFWIN 1.8 - Thanks for coming out!

Thank you to everyone who came out to SFWIN 1.8. It was a terrific time.

I thought  all the demos were pretty cool.
Atlassian – creators of JIRA and Confluence
People Aggregator - social network web service
Live Books – editable website presentation & marketing software for creative professionals

Picture Cloud - create 360 degree pictures with a few clicks.

Congratulations to Scott Beale for winning the grand prize video iPod from Apple.

Special thanks to our sponsor & host Atlassian.
Their products are more well known than the company, hopefully we've done a little to change that.

Also thanks to Metromint for donating water to the event and for the case they gave away.
I have to admit I was really skeptical when I first heard about it, but then I tried it and it was really tasty! I think that other folks at SFWIN felt the same way because we ran out of the 100 bottles we got halfway through the night!

You can see photos from Kris Tate here:
http://beta.zooomr.com/smartsets/kristopher/769

If you upload your photos to Zooomr and tag them with SFWIN1.8 you can see them all in one spot.

SFWIN Join the Organizing Committee

We have a great time putting together SFWIN but we could really use some help. We’ve heard tons of great ideas for making SFWIN better but the three of us have a really hard time making them happen because we’ve all got day jobs.

We’d like to reach out to our members and see who would like to become active in organizing and making the organization better. We have a variety of roles for different skill sets. I’ve included descriptions of who we think we need at the bottom of this email. Each of these roles takes about half a day to a day of work each month.

You’ll get a ton of exposure, it looks wonderful on a resume, you get in free and of course you get a warm fuzzy feeling for putting together an event that’s valuable to the community.

POSITIONS

Sponsorship Director

We need someone to find sponsors to get venues and money to help subsidize the event. We have existing sponsors so you won’t be starting from scratch!

Marketing Director

Every time new people come to the event they tell us they wish that they had heard about it sooner. We need someone to get the word out about SFWIN, this includes everything from putting us in places like Zvents and upcoming.org to working with other people throwing events to co-ordinate promotion.

Demo Director

We have been doing demos for the last few SFWIN events and we really need someone to own this area of the event and get it organized, from talking to and getting people in, to running the demo logistics the day of.

Webmaster

Let’s face it, our site (www.sfwin.org) could use some help. We need someone to make the SFWIN site great and to keep it that way.

Door Volunteers (1 hour)

We now have enough people coming in that we’d like to get some more people helping out at the door. If you’re a door volunteer you get in free and get to meet a whole lot of interesting people!

If you have any interest or questions please drop me an email!

Thank You For Coming to SFWIN’s April Event

Thank you to everyone who came out to the event at the Adobe/Macromedia Offices last night. We keep getting more and more people out and it’s really fun to see all the new faces.

The demos/presentations were really great and I hope to see more cool stuff as we keep going. I look forward to people sharing more of their cool stuff as we go forward. If you would like to demo at the next event please email me.

I also wanted to give special thanks to our sponsors Fish & Richardson and Adobe. We can’t make these events happen without support from our sponsors.

Our next event is still in the planning stages and we’ll have that worked out soon.

If you’re on the mailing list I’ll drop you a line about it.

Thank You For Coming to SF WIN

Thank you to everyone who came out the event at the Microsoft SF Offices last night. We keep getting more people out and it's really fun to see all the new faces. I think we had over 140 people there last night. Having a spot to do demos was very cool and I hadn't seen many of the sites that were presenting before.

I also wanted to give special thanks to our sponsors Fish & Richardson and Microsoft. We can't make these events happen without support from our sponsors.

Our next event is going to be over at the Adobe (formerly Macromedia) buildings up in San Francisco. Their space is gorgeous and we're really looking forward to having the event there.

One thing you may notice is that we're raising the price back up a little to $25. No it's not because we're greedy, in fact we make no money on throwing these things. Basically the catering is mandatory at their office and um... well it's not cheap. In fact the only way that we can afford to have it at Adobe at all is because they are helping out on costs.

If there were more companies that could help sponsor we could bring down the prices again.

If you would like to demo at the event please email me.

You can sign up for the event here as usual:
http://wsfinder.jot.com/WikiHome/SF+Web+Innovators

Here are some blogs talking about the event - if you tag your post sfwin or trackback here it'll be easier to find you!

SF WIN Event on Thursday at Microsoft SF Office

This is a reminder to everyone about the SF WIN event on Thursday at the Microsoft SF Offices. We had a terrific event last month at the Adaptive Path Offices with 120 people showing up and we’re hoping for more this time.

We’ve got 60+ people signed up so far and this looks like it will be our biggest one yet – bring your friends!

NOTE – YOU MUST RSVP ON THE LIST BY THURSDAY AT 10 AM BECAUSE OF BUILDING SECURITY.

We are looking into providing demo spaces at the event. Please drop an email if you’re interested in having a demo space so we can gauge demand. We have limited space so priority will be given to sponsors.

Hopefully the folks who got the free passes to MIX 06 will be back in time to join us!

Thursday, March 23 at 6PM – Microsoft San Francisco Offices

The Landmark at One Market, Suite 200

Microsoft has been generous enough to offer up their space for this event.
$20 at door - Includes food and drinks and enables us to run more events like this. Thanks for your support!

If you don’t RSVP we will charge you $40. Yes we really really want you to RSVP.

SPONSORS

Fish and Richardson will be a cash sponsors for the event.

Fish and Richardson (www.fr.com) is a law firm that specializes in intellectual property law and they’ll have someone at the event that you can talk to and ask questions of.

Please RSVP here:

http://wsfinder.jot.com/WikiHome/SF+Web+Innovators

Please let others know about us and tell your friends about the event - we would love to grow the event and get more people involved.

Sponsorship Opportunities

If you would like to be a sponsor for an upcoming event please drop Nova an email. Sponsors help subsidize the costs of drinks and food, and in exchange they get thanked in front of everyone who comes, they get their name emblazoned on all our communications for a month, and they get good karma.

EMAIL LIST

If you know anyone that wants to be on this mailing list get them to drop me an email.

We promise to limit the use of this email list so that folks don’t feel spammed to death.

You’ll always find information about this on the wiki - http://wsfinder.jot.com/WikiHome/SF+Web+Innovators

Thanks again for coming out!

Your hosts,

Chris Law, Nova Spivack and Shannon Clark

SFWIN - Thanks for coming out!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the SF WIN event last Thursday night at Deep Sushi!

About 40 of us braved the wind, the rain and the cold to enjoy sushi, drinks and good conversation. It was a lot of fun and it was great to see new faces there!

NEXT EVENT – Thursday, January 12 at 6PM - Location TBD

We need to pick a location for the next event and that will be determined by how many people we end up getting. We’ll always keep the costs to around $20-$25

We need you to please RSVP and let us know if you plan on coming. In fact, please bring guests – we want to expand to include new people – and tell us how many you are bringing:

http://wsfinder.jot.com/WikiHome/SF+Web+Innovators

That way we can figure out what the right size for the next event is. We’ll drop mail before the end of the year to let you know where it’s going to be.
